Tapes in this condition are usually damaged and do not perform correctly in your tape echo machine!<br>Be sure that you buy tapes that are protected in a RIGID, ANTI-STATIC TREATED CONTAINER that fits the tapes closely (top to bottom) so as not to allow the tape to un-spool and kink or obtain curled tape edges, tape creases, lengthwise tape twists and scrapes that wear off any lubrication coating from the tape's backside!
