    Description

This is a very ornate double action lever type brass doorbell in great condition. The
double strike mechanism rings once as the lever is pulled and again as it is released, this results in a slightly heavier pull than a single strike bell. The lever is mounted slightly offset to the centerline of the bell. The bell should fit a door up to 2" thick.
The 3 1/2" diameter brass bell has a highly polished finish. The lever is made of brass/bronze and the back plate measures about 2" by 3 1/4'.
There are no markings on the bell other than the 1879 patent date.
Often the levers and bells were sold separately, so like on this bell, you may not find the same pattern on both pieces.  There are so many different symbols on these two pieces that it is hard to tell. I only mention this because some people expect both pieces to match.
