Crafted from North American hard rock maple, select heartwood birch, or maple/mahogany, the Collector's Series gives you a choice of shell configurations and a bounteous array of high-end finishes and drum hardware color options to create your very own custom kit.
Maple Specialized Shell Configuration
The DW Collector's Series FinishPly floor tom sports DW's Maple Specialized Shell Configuration (SSC). Maple is a traditional shell material that yields remarkable punch, warmth, and attack. For years, drum makers have preferred maple for its impact and resonant tonal qualities. Starting with the best wood, DW then applies its unique SSC technology to create some of the best-sounding drums ever made. DW found that by alternate orientation of the grain patterns of different plies (vertical, horizontal, and even diagonal), drums could be optimized for their particular specialty. The VLT (Vertical Low Timbre) grain orientation utilized for the Collector's Series FinishPly floor tom allows the drum to vibrate more freely, resulting in enhanced resonance, attack, and low-end punch.
