Good-Very Good overall antique cond: This really lovely antique Victorian brass door knocker, featuring a woman's hand wearing a ring, letting the world know the woman who resides at that residence is happily married & a 'taken' woman. The brass knocker is fairly lg & is solid brass, substantial & quite heavy. It looks to have been cleaned, &/or polished some time ago, w/residual brass polishing cream still found embedded in the lows & in the valleys of the figurative form of the woman's hand. The brass still has nat oxidized, aged patina, w/wonderful soft amber, honey, yellow ocher & burnt sienna hues, mixing w/& blending w/soft shades of varying degrees of intensity of the brass's gold color. The woman's lg ring is featured prominently on the woman's ring finger. The wrist of the woman also features a bracelet & her wrist & forearm extends out of the sleeve of her blouse. The knocker would've banged against a brass base affixed to a wooden door. A great Victorian artifact. Terrific.
