    Description

This is a Wind-Up doorbell operated by a push button. The bell was made by New Departure who started out by making doorbells in the late 1880's. They later became the worlds largest manufacturer of ball bearings and eventually closed the bearing business in 1993. Since they also made clock components the mechanisms in the wind-up bells were common to components in a clock.
The bell is wound by turning the 3 1/2' diameter bell.  Pushing the button will ring the bell over 2 minutes which should be good for over 25 2 second rings. As the bell rings the cover rotates so there may be some variation in the sound. The sound is similar to the early electric bells.
The bell is 3 1/2" in diameter and is made of polished brass.  This is their small size bell. The button assembly is all brass. A rod is included so it would need to be trimmed for the door thickness. The nice part of these bells is that they are easy to install and people are familiar with a push button as opposed to a crank, lever or twist bell where they might not know what to do.
