    FRYE BOOT COMPANY
COGNAC COWHIDE LEATHER MOTORCYCLE COWBOY/COWGIRL WESTERN BOOTS. STYLE 2512.
    The Frye Company
    is an American
    boot
manufacturer that, by its own accounts, is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States.
    The Frye Company logo
In 1863, John A. Frye opened the doors to the very first Frye shop on Elm Street in Marlboro, Massachusetts.
In the 1890s, Marlboro manufactured more shoes than any other city in the U.S. During that time, and Frye was one of the largest and most successful footwear companies in the entire country.
During the 1960s Frye made custom boots for a number of well-known people including Jackie Kennedy, Bing Crosby, Jerry Lewis, Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Ann-Margret, Walt Frazier, Laurel & Hardy, Candice Bergen, Liza Minnelli, Carole King, Gene Autry, and President Nixon.
The 1960s also saw the birth of the Frye Harness Boot, inspired by Union cavalry soldiers in the Civil War.
Vintage all American FRYE western square toe boots! These boots are one of Frye's quintessential styles from the 70's! Featuring a chunky toe paired with a stacked wooden heel and a beautiful cognac brown leather upper with a superb, worn in patina. Fully leather lined. These boots are extremely durable and build to last.
    According to Boot Wiki :
True “vintage” mens Frye boots had heels of 2-3/8 inches (6cm), with a rubber sole plate. The soles of original campus boots are made of smooth leather. True vintage Frye Boots will have only one Frye logo sewn on the inside of the right boot shaft; boots made in the 1980s and thereafter have logos sewn on the inside of both boot shafts, as well as a Frye logo brand stamped on the left and right heel.
Vintage Frye's were made of entirely US-obtained materials, including the leather. They were mostly machine-produced, but the process at their facility in Marlborough, Massachusetts, required a lot of hand-labor throughout the boot making process where skilled workers demonstrated pride in their craft.
    Frye Square-toed Boots
Also popular during the 1970s were a version of Frye boots that combined aspects of the campus boot and the harness boot. Frye produced boots with a tall shaft like campus boots and square toe, but without the harness. These boots also had the traditional Frye stacked heel to 2-3/8“ (6cm) with rubber heel plate and smooth leather sole. They were offered in brown, black, Banana, Sunrise, and olive. They are not offered any more by the Frye Company.
